Sir Brian Roche, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Board chair, has announced the appointment of Kane Patena as the new Director of Land Transport. The appointment is for a period of 18 months and will report directly to the Waka Kotahi Board.
Kane will continue to oversee the regulatory functions for NZTA.
The establishment of the director of Director of Land Transport is a legislative requirement and must be in place by 1 April 2021.
According to the news brief issued by NZTA, Kane’s experience over the last 18 months at NZTA has made him a natural fit for the new role while the agency progressively defines the role and its functions over the next 18 months.
