
Overview
This sector group represents members involved in the transport using multiple modes of transportation, particularly sea and air ports. The Ports & Intermodal Sector Group works alongside and supports other sector organisations, including the New Zealand Intermodal Safety Group and the South Island Port User Working Group.
Group Priorities
- Improving port turn-around times and processes for freight operators.
- Improving port safety outcomes and developing best practice guidance.
- Supporting the work of groups including NZISG and SIPUWG.
- Ensuring the road freight sector is involved and consulted with in port decision making.
Events and Deliverables
- Good Practice Guidelines for the safe operation and maintenance of Sideloaders (NZISG).
- Presentation to NZ Council of Cargo Owners on Road Freight Industry considerations.
- Assisting MoT’s Assessment of Long-Term Requirements for a Resilient Cook Strait Connection.
